洁净之道丨第三十一天 神的至大、至尊、权能和恩典

Welcome back Friend. Today, we'll examine a passage of Scripture that shows the glory, majesty and power of God, as well as His grace and compassion. 


May Scripture expand our view of Who God is, for surely we cannot view the greatness and glory of God and still be involved in habitual sin. Please read the following verses, and answer the questions.

See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and his arm rules for him. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. Isaiah 40:10

This verse describes God as the "Sovereign Lord" who comes with power and strength. 


God is God over all, the supreme Potentate, and the ruling King. "His arm rules for Him" is a metaphor for God being strong enough to rule; He does as He pleases and is able to accomplish what He decrees.


这节经文把神描写成为“至高无上的主”,带着大能和力量临到我们。神是高过一切的神,至高的君主,统管万有的王。“他的膀臂必为他掌权”是一种比喻神完全可以统管万有;祂随己意行万事,命立就立。




He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. Isaiah 40:11

Verse 10 described God as the Sovereign Lord displaying His power, but verse 11 describes Him as a loving Shepherd displaying His grace. 


This God is not only One Who is in control of the entire universe, Friend—He's also the caring Shepherd who loves individual sheep, carrying them closely and leading them gently.


第10节描写了神作为至高无上的主,正彰显着祂的大能,但是第11节把祂描绘成了一个满有爱心的牧者,显示出祂的恩典。这位神不仅统管整个宇宙,朋友,祂还是一位悉心的牧人,爱护祂的每一只羊,紧紧怀抱它们,慢慢引导它们。




This combination of Lord and Shepherd, of divine power and divine love, of majesty and grace, is what makes our God so amazing. "What makes Christ glorious is an admirable conjunction of diverse excellencies"

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Isaiah 40:12


谁曾用手心量诸水,用手虎口量苍天,用升斗盛大地的尘土,用秤称山岭,用天平平岗陵呢?以赛亚书 40:12




Scientists tell us that the entire existing universe is so vast and expansive that it cannot be measured, and yet God marks it off with His hand. It baffles the scientific genius of man and leaves him speechless, but is just a handbreadth to God. 


In verse 10 we saw the power of God; in verse 11, His grace; and now, in verse 12, we see His glory. Who is like unto our God?


科学家们告诉我们整个现存的宇宙是如此浩瀚无垠,以致无法测量,然而神却用手虎口丈量苍天。这使得人类的科学天才百思不得其解,无话可说,而对神来说这只是祂虎口的宽度。

13 Who has understood the mind of the LORD, or instructed him as his counselor? 14Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? 


Who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding? Isaiah 40:13-14


13谁曾测度耶和华的心(或作“谁曾指示耶和华的灵”),或作他的谋士指教他呢?

These questions are meant to highlight the insignificance of man in light of the greatness of God. Is there anyone on earth who might suggest to God that He measure the universe differently, or that He should use a different basket in which to carry the entire dust of the earth, or that He weigh the mountains using different scales? 


Shirley MacLaine may declare all she wants, "I am God," but when has she measured the entire universe with her hand or carried the dust of the earth in a basket or weighed mountains? Those who do not see the greatness of God become great in their own eyes.

17 Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless and less than nothing. Isaiah 40:15-17


15看哪,万民都像水桶的一滴,又算如天平上的微尘;他举起众海岛,好像极微之物。

16黎巴嫩的树林不够当柴烧,其中的走兽也不够作燔祭。

What type of God can look at teeming nations, such as China, whose population is 1,306,313,812 or Russia, whose population is 143,420,309, and call them "a drop in the bucket" and "dust on the scales?" 


What kind of a God is able to weigh an island? Compared to the greatness of God, these nations are considered "nothing," "worthless," and "less than nothing."


什么样的神能够看着人口众多的国家,例如中国,有13亿人口,或是俄国,1.4亿人口,而称他们为“水桶中的一滴”和“天平上的微尘”呢?


什么样的神能够举起(原文作称重解)海岛?与神的伟大相比,这些国家被算为“虚无”“不及虚无”和“虚空”。




To whom, then, will you compare God? What image will you compare him to? Isaiah 40:18

God is incomparably great, unable to be reduced to words, inexplicable in human terminology, and unlike anything that has been or ever could be made.


神的伟大是无可比拟的,不能用语言来形容,无法用人类的词汇来解释,也不比任何被造或是可造之物。

23 He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. 

24 No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff. Isaiah 40:21-24


21你们岂不曾知道吗?你们岂不曾听见吗?从起初岂没有人告诉你们吗?自从立地的根基,你们岂没有明白吗?

The questions in verse 21 almost mock man's inability to perceive the greatness of God. "What, can't you understand? 


Can't you perceive that God is the God of the entire universe, the great King of all creation, who uses the entire heavens for His tent, who does as He pleases with all of mankind? Isn't this obvious to you?" Paul says:


第21节几乎是在嘲弄人们无法觉察神的伟大。“什么,你岂不明白?你岂看不见神是万有宇宙的神,伟大的造物主,祂用苍穹铺张祂的帐棚,祂可以随意安置人类吗?这岂不是清楚显明的吗?”保罗说:




19 "Since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 

20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:19-20

25 "To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One. 

26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:25-26


25那圣者说:“你们将谁比我,叫他与我相等呢?

26你们向上举目,看谁创造这万象,按数目领出,他一一称其名,因他的权能,又因他的大能大力,连一个都不缺。”以赛亚书40:25-26




This passage compares mankind to "grasshoppers," but God cannot be compared to anything, for He is too great. God is awesome in splendor, powerful in majesty, beautiful in grace, and has no equal. 


Can the great gurus of other religions create the heavens? Can all the prophets of all human religions bring out each star and give it a name?


这些经文把人比作“蝗虫(蚱蜢)”,但没有任何事物可以与神相比,因为祂太伟大了。祂的壮丽令人敬畏,祂的雄伟满有能力,祂的恩典美妙绝伦,无与伦比。

Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"? 

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. Isaiah 40:27-28


雅各啊,你为何说:“我的道路向耶和华隐藏?”以色列啊,你为何言:“我的冤屈神并不查问?”

28你岂不曾知道吗?你岂不曾听见吗?永在的神耶和华,创造地极的主,并不疲乏,也不困倦,他的智慧无法测度。 以赛亚书40:27-28




Since God is so great, and since He has created all things and is ruling over all things, can we hide from Him? 


When we rush to click onto a pornographic website, or hurry to leave work so we can commit adultery, is our way hidden from God? Does God look the other way when we watch X-rated videos?


既然神如此伟大,既然祂创造了万有并统管万有,我们能向祂隐藏吗?


当我们匆忙点击进入色情网站,或是急着离开工作去行奸淫,我们这种做法在神面前隐藏的住吗?当我们看限制级的影片时,神的眼睛是看向别处的吗?




"For a man's ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all his paths." Prov. 5:21


因为人所行的道都在耶和华眼前,他也修平人一切的路。箴言5:21




God sees everything we do, and though we may think we are sinning in secret, things done in darkness will one day be exposed by the light. Our way is not hidden from the Lord—we can never sin in secret. 


As Moses was about to kill the Egyptian, he "looked left and right," to see if anyone was watching. Having concluded that no one was watching, he killed the Egyptian. Although he looked left and right, he forgot to look up. God sees all we do, at all times.


神看得见我们所做的一切事,尽管我们以为我们的罪是隐秘的,在黑暗中所行的事有一天会被揭露出来。我们所行的道在主面前是藏不住的 - 我们永远无法在暗中犯罪。

29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 

30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 

31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31


29 疲乏的,他赐能力;软弱的,他加力量。

30就是少年人也要疲乏困倦,强壮的也必全然跌倒;

31但那等候耶和华的,必从新得力。他们必如鹰展翅上腾,他们奔跑却不困倦,行走却不疲乏。  以赛亚书40:29-31




Here is what today's teaching on the greatness and awesome power of the Lord comes down to:all of God's power is employed to strengthen the weary and to increase the power of the weak.


归根结底,今天我们所教导的关于主的大而可畏的能力就是:神的所有能力都是用来给疲倦的加能力,给软弱的加力量。

Is God showing you His own greatness... and your own insignificance, by comparison? How do you think this will affect your life?

Friend, when I was involved in habitual sexual sins, I entertained great thoughts about myself. I thought I was more spiritual than others, that I was an authority on Scripture, and that people should look up to me. 


Sin hardens and deceives; it led me into thinking I was somebody. All of these great thoughts about myself had roots in my inadequate understanding of God's greatness.


朋友,当我沉溺在习惯性的性罪行中时,我常常自以为乐,我觉得自己比别人都属灵,我是释经的权威,而人们需要仰视我。


罪使人心刚硬而自欺,它让我觉得自己是个人物。所有这些自高自大的想法,其根源就在于我对于神的伟大,理解的不充分。




God gave me over to sin for a time, much like He gave King Nebuchadnezzar over to an insane mind for seven years. He showed me that my will was only free to sin, that He was in control of all things, and that He held my life (both physical and spiritual) in His hands. 


Through my sin, the subsequent loss of my first marriage, and the labels placed on me by others ("adulterer," "fornicator," etc.), God brought me low and reducing me to nothing. 


Finally, I had lost all self-respect, and thought God had thrown me away on the trash heap of sinful humanity. This is how I "stumbled and fell."


神把我交给罪有一段时间了,很像是祂使尼布甲尼撒王癫狂了7年。祂向我表明我的自由意志只是用来犯罪,而祂却掌管着一切,祂将我的生命(肉体和灵性的)握在祂的手中。

But then, God did an amazing thing. He picked me back up, remade me, gave me grace to forsake sin and embrace Christ, and empowered me to soar. 


Now, He's even making me useful. This makes me say: "Wow, look at Who God is, and what He can do. He not only created the heavens and the earth, but He also took me out of the devil's trap and gives me strength to overcome sin.

So the Lion is a Lamb--an animal that is weak and harmless and lowly and easily preyed upon, and sheared naked for clothes, and killed for our food. So Christ is a lamb-like Lion.

"The Lion of Judah conquered because he was willing to act the part of a lamb. He came into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday like a king on the way to a throne, and He went out of Jerusalem on Good Friday like a lamb on the way to a slaughter. 


He drove out the robbers from the Temple like a lion devouring its prey. And then at the end of the week He gave His majestic neck to the knife, and they slaughtered the Lion of Judah like a sacrificial lamb.


“犹大的狮子得胜了,因为祂愿意像羔羊般行事。祂在棕枝主日像一个登基的君王来到了耶路撒冷,又在受难日如被宰的羔羊离开了圣城。

"But what sort of lamb? Revelation 5:6 says, the 'Lamb was standing, as if slain, having seven horns.' Notice two things. First, the Lamb is 'standing.' It is not slumped in a bloody heap on the ground as it once was. 


Yes, it had been slain. But now it is standing--standing in the innermost circle next to the throne.


“可这是怎样的羔羊呢?启示录5:6说:“羔羊站立,像是被杀过的,有七角”注意两件事,首先,羔羊是“站立”的,它不是像从前那样倒在地上的血泊之中。是的,它曾被杀,但现在它正站立 – 站立在紧靠宝座的内室。




"Second, the Lamb has seven horns. A horn is a symbol of strength and power throughout the book of Revelation (12:3; 13:1; 17:3,12), as well as in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 33:17; Psalm 18:2; 112:9). 


And the number seven signifies fullness and completeness. So this is no ordinary lamb. He is alive from the dead, and He is completely mighty in His sevenfold strength. He is, in fact, a lion-like Lamb.


“其次,羔羊有七角。角在整卷启示录中是力量和能力的象征(12:3;13:1;17:3,12)在旧约中也是这样(申命记33:17;诗篇18:2;112:9)。

"...The gentleness and humility of the lamb-like Lion becomes brilliant alongside the limitless and everlasting authority of the lion-like Lamb. Only this fits our longing for greatness. 


Yes, we are weak and weary and heavy-laden. But there burns in every heart, at least from time to time, a dream that our lives will count for something great. 


To this dream Jesus said, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations...and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age' (Matthew 28:18-20)."

What does "feasting" mean?"


Feasting" is more than just reading the Bible; it is a term to express the nourishing of our souls in Jesus Christ. 


It means that we are sitting at the feet of Jesus, hearing His Word and believing it, for the purpose of implementing the truths into our lives. It means we are receiving spiritual nourishment and we are delighting our souls in His grace and truth. 


This may be done in reading our Bibles, hearing God's Word preached, interacting with others in the Scriptures, and studying through this course, etc. This definition is at least a start; further explanation is included in the lessons.
