VANISHED, a spinoff of the popular LEFT BEHIND book series, is about two sisters, who look for their father when God takes their Christian mother and all other believers to Heaven, as predicted by some popular interpretations of prophecy. VANISHED is a well-made, inspiring thriller that illustrates God’slove and protection in dangerous situations. There is no foul language; some scary, intense violence include vandalism, people attacked, car crashes, men with guns hunt or chase protagonists, small explosions; no sex, but teenagers dance and kiss; no nudity; no alcohol; no smoking or drugs; and, vandalism,arson and stalking.

The movie starts by showing Gabby and her younger sister, Claire. Gabby looks like she has to care for her sister instead of her Christian mother,who’s often busy with work. Walking on crowded city streets, Gabby and her mother talk about Gabby’s friend, Josh. Suddenly, many empty cars surround Gabby after crashing because the drivers have unexpectedly disappeared. Gabby’s mother has vanished with the others. Meanwhile, people all around her shout for their missing family and friends.

Chaos seems to overtake the city and the whole world. Gabby, Claire and Gabby’s friend, Josh, look for a safe place and end up at a church. In the church, they meet a strange guy named Flynn and the pastor. The pastor says the situation arose because of the Rapture of Christian believers before the Antichrist takes over the world. When the church experiences a gas explosion,the three companions leave the city to find Gabby’s father.

While on their trip, Gabby and Claire, Josh and Flynn are faced with dangerous people who try to attack them. Claire hurts her leg from broken window glass when they run away from the bad men. They find shelter for Claireon the farm of Damon and his sister, Sarah. Sarah takes care of Claire, and Damon turns out to be a survivalist. Gabby, Claire and the two boys stay on the farm, where they help out with the chores while someone watches them work.

The girls eventually learn what’s really happening and become believers in Jesus Christ, the source of salvation. So, VANISHED has a strong Christian worldview with positive lessons.
